After his father, he was appointed as working president of Shiv Sena and later on he became the chief minister of the state Maharashtra on 28th November, 2019. He is 19th chief minister of Maharashtra at present. At present, he is also the chief of their daily newspaper Saamna. He got married with Rashmi Thackeray and got Aditya Thackeray and Tejas Thackeray as sons.

Raj Thackeray also belongs to Thackeray family, his father name was Shrikant Thackeray who was brother of Balasaheb Thackeray. Raj Thackeray left the Shiv Sena 2006 and made his own political party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. He got married to Smt. Sharmila Thackeray and blessed with two children namely Ajit Thackeray and Urvashi Thackeray. He is also one of the most powerful leaders in the state Maharashtra.
