Mulayam Singh Yadav was elected as M.L.A & M.P several times throughout his political career and remained Minister of Defence from 1996 to 1998. Mulayam Singh Yadav became chief minister of Uttar Pradesh state thrice, from 1989 to 1991 for the first time, from 1993 to 1995 for the second time & from 2003 to 2007 for the third time.
